Kate Gregson

Even as they kissed, Kate was totally aware of the fact that they were in the middle of the jungle and he was carrying a lot of guns and she had a grenade, but she was also aware of the fact that he was by far the hottest guy she'd ever made out with. And she wasn't about to stop just because of a few guns.

She was fitted against him and she pressed against him harder, moving them backwards blindly, looking for the tree she'd seen there just before she kissed him.

Hannibal backed up, stumbling as he tried to focus on both walking and making out with Kate, which was a lot harder to do that he would have though. He kind of liked her pushing him around like that. Definitely no mixed signals there.

He grunted when they bumped up against the tree and his hands slid down to grip her pleasantly firm ass, giving a low growl as he pulled back a bit to break the kiss.

"Just so we're in agreement, we both think this is a terrible idea but we're doing it anyway, right?"

"Totally terrible idea, totally doing it anyway," Kate agreed, a little breathless already, her lips trailing along his jaw when he broke the kiss. "I mean, maybe not out here, because I'm not into bugs crawling all over me, but still totally doing it."

Her place wasn't that far behind them, really, and she was pretty sure both Carla Jean and Reggie would be gone for awhile. Although, realistically, if he insisted they stay right where they were, she'd probably agree.

Hannibal felt weirdly better once she also acknowledged that it was a really bad idea, like that somehow made it slightly more okay somehow. He wasn't sure why, and maybe it was because she was still kissing him, but it seemed not so bad now.

"Okay, your place," he said, pulling her up for another quick kiss. "But I call dibs on running behind you so I can check out your ass."

"But then what am I supposed to look at?" she asked, backing away from him with a grin and starting back in the direction of her hut. She'd make him take her to hunt dinosaurs another time, because that was an adventure she didn't want to skip completely, but this was turning out to be way more important than throwing a grenade at a dinosaur.

Looking back over her shoulder, she said, "How about we trade halfway back."

"You are a naughty little minx," Hannibal accused before grinning broadly at her. Bad idea? Yes. Really fun time? Guaranteed. This was way, way better than hunting dinosaurs.

"But okay, halfway back we trade," he said, jogging after her.

"It's only fair," she said with a grin, then started hurrying toward her place. The sooner they got there, the sooner they could continue what they had started out in the jungle and she was really looking forward to that. Someone would probably tell her that hooking up with Hannibal wasn't going to make her miss Harry any less than hooking up with Tunny had, but she didn't care. What she wanted was distraction.

"Okay, switch," she said, turning abruptly and moving until she was behind him.

As they switched, Hannibal leaned in and kissed her hard again, feeling a rush surge through him at the contact of his lips on hers. He continued to run at the same pace back to her hut, even though he wanted to sprint as fast as he could to get there. It was good to draw it out, because the anticipation had him rock hard by the time they reached her place.

"I feel like I should have worn shorter shorts for you," Hannibal confessed.

"You probably should have," Kate agreed, pushing open the door of her hut with her shoulder. Chang was there, wagging his tail, but she nudged him outside before he could get too excited. Taking a quick glance around proved she'd been right, no one else was home. Before anyone could get there, she grabbed the front of Hannibal's shirt and pulled him into another kiss, then began to walk backward toward her room. This was sort of breaking her own rule, one she'd made up when interviewing for potential roommates, but since no one else was home, she hoped they wouldn't even find out.

Hannibal slid a hand through her hair as they kissed, feeling his skin heat up with desire as he pressed her close to him. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up as she back up, her body moving against his.

Once they were in what appeared to be her room, Hannibal shrugged off his shoulder holster and unstrapped the two holsters on the side of his legs, along with divesting the extra grenades and knives he'd brought.

"Didn't expect this to happen so I didn't wear my stripper dino-hunter outfit where everything is break way," he explained.

Kate nudged the door shut, though she wasn't completely paying attention, her focus drawn to Hannibal taking off his various weapons. "No, it's okay," she said. "There's something weirdly hot about watching you take off all your guns." Definitely weirdly hot, given how much she really didn't like guns, but he wasn't using them and he clearly wasn't planning on using them. "I think it's all the straps."

Whatever it was, it didn't matter. She was enjoying the view and she kicked off her runners before returning to Hannibal, running both her hands up the expanse of his chest.

"I would say I'm even turning myself on with it but I'm pretty sure that's all you," he said, dropping the last of his weapons to the floor. Her touche was good, even in the tropical heat they seemed warm against his body.

He leaned in and kissed her mouth again before trailing down her neck, sucking and nibbling as he want, his hands reaching down to squeeze her ass again. Damn she had a great ass.

"It's good to know I'm here for something," she teased, grinning a little as he grabbed her ass and she tilted her head, giving him better access to her throat. Her hands slid down again, then under the hem of his shirt, fingers splayed against his stomach. "God, how is this even real?" she asked, fingers curling under a little, her nails scraping lightly at his skin. No one looked like that. Even on the island, where everyone was gorgeous and perfect, this was a pretty serious stretch.

"Pretty sure by the fact that you're hot and it's a bad idea. I'm pretty much compelled to have sex in that situation," he said, hissing in pleasure as her nails scraped against his skin. That felt good.

Pulling back a bit, he peeled his shirt off and tossed it away, wanting more and more contact with her. He mimicked her movements, hands sliding up under her shirt to feel the flat planes of her stomach.

She pulled back far enough to tug her tank top over her head, her hair getting caught for a moment and then tumbling over her shoulder as she tossed the shirt aside. He really was ridiculously attractive and Kate pressed forward, kissing him again, her fingers dragging down to rest at the waist of his pants. Outside, Chang barked once, but she ignored him, knowing he had a tendency to bark at trees or rodents or anything that passed by. It was probably nothing and right now, all she wanted was right here.

Sam hadn't thought much when he originally saw Kate head into her hut with a guy. He hadn't even been spying or checking up on her, exactly. That time he had honestly just been walking past her hut on the way to his. It wasn't until he was almost to his hut that everything clicked. She probably wasn't taking the guy in there to show him her scrapbooks of the island.

Shit. Now he had a major dilemma, because he promised Kate he'd watch out for her and not let her do anything stupid. She was 100% allowed to sleep with whoever she wanted, of course. But if she was drunk or high or something because she was upset about Harry leaving and thus not making good decisions, that he considered the type of stupid thing he was supposed to prevent. Only he didn't know if she was any of those things.

Be a potential cockblock and good friend doing their duty, or let it go and potentially be an asshole friend? No contest, good friend won every time. Plus, he figured being so conflicted about it was sort of punishment in case he was wrong.

Chang barked at him once as he came up, which he figured was a good warning sign to whoever was inside.

"Kate!" Sam called out, banging on the door. "Kate please don't hate me but I'm making sure you're not doing something stupid. Did I mention please don't hate me?"

Kate was in the middle of pressing Hannibal back toward her bed when she heard Sam's voice and the banging on the door. Her eyes flew open and she froze, mouth still pressed to Hannibal's, her hands still at his waist. She knew exactly why Sam was here, she'd told him to stop her from doing anything stupid and while this was absolutely stupid, she still wanted to do it.

"Shit," she hissed, pulling back enough to look at Hannibal. "Most importantly, that's not my boyfriend, so you don't have to go anywhere."

Hannibal had barely even noticed the sound of someone banging on the door, having been a bit preoccupied with other things. Apparently it was enough to pull Kate out of her groove though.

"Uh, okay. I'll just be here. Hanging out while you go talk to your friend. Tell him hi for me?"

"Kate, please don't make me break down the door," Sam said, no longer pounding on the door as he waited semi-patiently for her to open it.

"Mostly because I don't know if I could and would probably get hurt."

"Good," Kate said, kissing Hannibal one more time before she turned and threw open her bedroom door without even bothering to put on a shirt. Sam had seen her in a bathing suit before, he could deal with her in a bra. It kind of drove home the point of the whole situation, too.

Grabbing the door, she wrenched it open, then leaned out, staring at Sam with a smile that looked a little more like she was gritting her teeth than anything. "Hannibal says hi. What's up?"

Sam immediately averted his eyes, even though it wasn't like she was topless. It was mostly an automatic reaction, although if she would have been bothered by him looking she probably would have put a shirt on.

"I know, I know," he said waving his hands. "And I'm not spying, I swear, I was just walking by and saw... you know. I'm just checking, like you asked me and if you're not drunk or wasted or something and would regret this later."

Sam figured he should probably apologize to the guy too, some sort of bro code thing so he leaned around her to call out.

"Dude, sorry! I really am sorry. Please don't shoot me with one of those many guns on the floor there. I just... holy shit look at... did he get stung by a bee or something?" Sam asked, turning back to Kate. "Are those like, his actual muscles?"

"I know, right?" Kate asked, leaning a little further out the door so she could share her incredulity with Sam for just a second. This wasn't the sort of thing she was going to go around telling everyone about, but it was sort of hard not to want to brag at least a little bit and this was kind of the perfect situation. "Who looks like that? It's freaking amazing."

Doing her best to look serious, she said, "I promise, I'm totally sober. One hundred percent. And I know I asked you to do this and I totally appreciate it, you're an awesome friend, but I really, really want to get back there. Look at him, he is ridiculously hot."

Kate sounded completely sober, if a little bit eager and excited, which Sam could understand. He was about as straight as they came and could say the other guy was pretty hot. Plus, Kate wasn't mad at him, which was really awesome and made him breath a sigh of relief.

"Alright, you go tap that," Sam said, holding his hand out for a fist bump. "I'll go take Chang for a walk. A long walk. Come get him, you know, tomorrow or whatever."

Glancing back, Kate grinned, then bumped her fist against Sam's. "You're the best. And thank you for making sure some douche wasn't taking advantage of me." As eager as she was to get back, she wanted to make sure Sam knew she did appreciate it. There hadn't been a lot of people in her life who would look out for her like that and it meant a lot.

"Now, I love you like a brother, but you have to leave," she said, smiling once more before she closed the door in his face and hurried back toward her bedroom.
