It probably wasn't exactly the catered party Reggie had been looking for, but it was still a party, which was exactly what Kate needed. The past month had been fucking weird, between everything that had happened with Esther and all the stuff on Halloween, most of which she was neatly repressing and avoiding at all costs. Parties always helped with the whole avoidance thing.

Especially parties where there was tons of alcohol with which to get totally shitfaced.

They hadn't bothered to decorate, but there was food and there were drinks and Kate had even decided she'd share some of her stash -- the one she actually hadn't touched in months -- with some of the guests if they were nice. She'd also realized that having a party where shit was likely to get out of hand with a gun nearby was probably a bad idea, so she'd locked it up and had given it to Danny for safe keeping, a move she thought Harley would approve of.

Especially since the last time she'd held it, she'd shot someone.

But she wasn't thinking about that tonight. She was thinking about the amazing party and the amazing drink she had in her hand.

"Well, hello," Reggie said, sidling on over to an attractive blonde who seemed to be doing her own thing and having a very good time of it in the process. He was pretty sure that she came in with the Shea LaBoof lookalike, which was unfortunate but couldn't be helped. "Make yourself at home!"

Cassie looked up with a smile as the young man approached her, recognizing him as one of Kate's new roommates. "Why thanks. You are so kind." She said teasingly. "You're one of the new roomies, right?"

"Half of them, in fact," Reggie confirmed with a joking flourish. "And a kind, generous half we are, indeed, so glad you noticed."

"So kind and generous half indeed. So kind and generous as to get a girl a drink?" Cassie wasn't flirting, not seriously. She just couldn't resist going more with the joke.

"For a pretty one? Always," Reggie replied, sliding on behind a table scattered with bottles, pitchers, and plenty of cups with a rakish grin. For his part, he was absolutely flirting in earnest, but was anyone honestly about to hold it against him? "What's your poison?"

"Flatterer too. Should have known." She bantered back as she followed him to the table and looked it over. "Surprise me. And could you make it two?"

He'd been afraid of that. Not the part about making two, but rather that he was being left to his own devices while she was probably expecting something alcoholic. That wasn't exactly one of his strongest suits. Rolling with punches, however, was.

"I'll have you know that I only flatter when it's warranted," Reggie said to cover his hesitation before he confidently threw a couple of glasses together in an approximation of something he was pretty sure he'd seen in an episode of Mod Men. "Thirsty, are we?"

"You already have my attention. And I like the flattery of cute boys so do keep going." Cassie watched him as he started on the drinks and got the feeling he wasn't as confident in what he was doing as he seemed. This could be fun to watch. "And I was on my way to get drinks for me and a friend. You are just doing me a huge favor." Boyfriend but he didn't need to know that yet. This was fun.

"You really shouldn't encourage me, you know," Reggie grinned, his least convincing tone of voice going perfectly with his game face since it was clear that she was digging him. He might as well have been handling chemicals in Dilton's lab for all that he knew what he doing, sure, but that didn't stop him from handing her a couple of glasses of something that at least looked like it could taste alright. "I have it on pretty good authority that I can be incorrigible."

"But incorrigible is fun. Just as long as you know it's all just for fun." Cassie gave him a playful wink as she lifted one of the glasses to her lips and took a drink. And then did he best to cough subtly. "That's...strong."

"Thanks!" Reggie replied brightly. Strong was good, right? "And all the best things in life are just for fun, aren't they?"

She finally had to give in to the urge to cough and contemplated giving them back...but then she imagined the look on Sam's face and decided to let him try the drink for himself.

"Now that I can agree with! I'm Cassie, btw?" She set her drink down and offered her hand across the table.

"Reggie, fyi," he replied, clasping her hand in both of his to shake. "Feels like a crime we haven't met sooner."
