It probably wasn't exactly the catered party Reggie had been looking for, but it was still a party, which was exactly what Kate needed. The past month had been fucking weird, between everything that had happened with Esther and all the stuff on Halloween, most of which she was neatly repressing and avoiding at all costs. Parties always helped with the whole avoidance thing.

Especially parties where there was tons of alcohol with which to get totally shitfaced.

They hadn't bothered to decorate, but there was food and there were drinks and Kate had even decided she'd share some of her stash -- the one she actually hadn't touched in months -- with some of the guests if they were nice. She'd also realized that having a party where shit was likely to get out of hand with a gun nearby was probably a bad idea, so she'd locked it up and had given it to Danny for safe keeping, a move she thought Harley would approve of.

Especially since the last time she'd held it, she'd shot someone.

But she wasn't thinking about that tonight. She was thinking about the amazing party and the amazing drink she had in her hand.

Cassie's arms went around Kate's waist and returns the hug. "Oh you know. Doing the superhero thing on Halloween. Convincing Sam my pony is not going to eat him. The usual. So what's not your fault?" She asked again, leaning into Kate with a grin.

"Oh, I dunno. I think that pony might just eat his face off if he's not careful." The Bastard would, but that's not really the point, and Cassie's being a pain and not letting shit go that should be let go. "Nothing's not my fault. Or wait...nothing is my fault." Kate sighs and pokes Cassie in the ribs. "Whatever. Anyway. It's nothing. Just a lot of people disappearing again and it's kinda hard on Lilo." And me.

"Hermera would rather eat her own face. She's still a shy little thing. But I'm finding she'll do anything for an apple so if Sam stays clear of those, he should be fine." She said with a laugh at the whole silly idea. But she sobered as Kate continued, even as she returned the elbow. She got the unsaid part but she would have done the same thing so didn't comment. "Yeah. That's the part of the island that kinda stinks. Anything I can do? For Lilo?"

Kate makes a face at the elbow nudge but hauls Cassie into a clearer space and starts dancing. The more they're moving, the less she's got to talk, she figures. Arms over her head, she upchins, sort of a shrug-on-the-go. "Could take her to see Hermera. Or come and hang with her. You and Sam. She keeps losing ohana." Faster than she can grow it. "The more she has, the better."

Cassie takes the move to dance for what it was, a change of subject. But she didn't worry to much about it since she was going to suggest dancing in a moment anyway.

"You got it. Maybe Cissie and I can take her off your hands occasionally. We've both said we need to have more sleepovers."

"Just don't start teaching her to be a superhero til she's ten," Kate says, grinning. Kid's got tons of babysitters, even with Daniel gone, but she's never going to turn down a few more. Especially a few more who actually want to hang with her.

Now Kate's just got to get okay with letting her out of her sight again.

"Right. Flying and archery lessons are out. Gotcha." Cassie wouldn't call it babysitting. She knew Cissie definitely wouldn't, not after the whole brain washing kids thing. No, this was genuinely wanting to spend time with the little Hawaiian girl. If it gave Kate some free time, all the better. "Maybe she can help Kon give me surfing lessons again. I failed horribly last time he tried."

"Archery's all right," Kate says. She's a firm believer in the kid being able to take care of herself. "But let's wait on that until after the thaw. Gonna have to wait til January for surfing, probably too, unless the island decides to skip winter this year."

Kate's not counting on it. She's already started looking for mistletoe.

"Oh right. It is almost that time of year, isn't it?" She'd been here for years and even arrived in the snow. And yet, it still was a surprise when the island changed during December. "January then. I'll let Cissie and Kon know."
