"No kidding," Kate agreed, trying to imagine what might have happened to her back in Kansas for doing something like that. She'd already sort of lost her job, so that wouldn't have mattered, but she was eighteen, so there would have been a criminal record. Not to mention what her parents would do to her.
"I would've been grounded for the rest of my life, I bet," she said. "Besides being put in jail."
