For a second there, Kate had been totally sure he was going to kiss her and she was suddenly very aware of her heart hammering away in her chest, though that could have been due to the threat of a snake. If there was really a snake behind her, she wasn't sure she actually cared all that much, given how close Hannibal was, but she also wasn't entirely sure he was just giving her a hard time.
"Okay," she murmured, doing exactly what he'd told her to, even if she was sure she wasn't going to get very far. "Just let me know when the snake's gone." Because there was something she had to do.
