One eye opened at that and then the other, and Kate smiled over at Harry. These were the things she'd wanted Ben to say, the things he'd never seemed capable of -- because he'd been a creep, of course -- and Gene had just been weird from the start, but coming from Harry, it sounded genuine. "It's a pretty spectacular face," she agreed, then leaned over to kiss him, even if her mouth felt like cotton, even if she'd just spent the night in jail, because it was easy to forget those things when someone like Harry said something like that.
